- No consideration to keep the pork and other food separately for Muslims. I have witnessed in live cooking that Pork bacon omellete and other Omelletes are cooked in the same pan without cleaning. The practice is followed by almost all the hotels that says that they serve halal chicken/ beef. - Unreasonable prices - Really u will be amazed if u compare the prices with other hotels in Srilanka. - No Food Variety: There is only one restaurant (other was temp closed) which is unreasonably priced and poor in ambiance, quality of food, variety, pricing and yes CLEANLINESS. I stayed in various 4/5 star hotels in Srilanka and found that this hotel is exceptionally charging higher pricing with so many negatives - Quality of furniture is worst and old - Really need a renovation.
I do realize this is a heritage property, but still, it was not nice to have funny Asmells on the first floor near the rooms. We were also underwhelmed by the quality of the food vs the cost of it.
the location, the old world charm, the food and view.
the colonial style, the country site, the hotel is really nice
the bathrooms have to be renovated
The staff -v.eager to assist. The rooms are v.cosey and the bathroom is v.clean. Room service is prompt. The hotel is in a v.quiet and beautiful area of greenary. One can have lovely morning walks which I enjoyed. The breakfast has variety. I can easily recommend this hotel to anyone. Upon check-out I was informed that this hotel will be closed for 5 months for upgradation to a 4star hotel and I am looking forward for my next trip !!
Its difficult to fill this column - I was pleased with all the services etc.!!
Quaint hotel with clean rooms.Nice restaurant and nice small bar with a fire.
We were located on a lower flooor and therefore it was very old a smelled a bit musty. Could do with some upgrading.
I love the old colonial look and the fact that it's well maintained. The staff is friendly and facilities are great. Little touches like the warm bottle during turndown is a sweet gesture. Keep it up!
I'm sure you have heard, the night could be a tad cold, perhaps having some heating system by the corridors along the reception area and lounge room would be nice as well.
No exhaust fans in the toilets....Gets stuffy due to steam. No bathtubs.
Very nice hotel in great location. Decor fits in well with feel of the area. Friendly service. Some really nice touches like hot water bottles at turn down.
Food was really nice but they pushed a several course menu which was expensive for Sri Lanka for quite small portions. Would recommend asking for the a la carte menu which was better value expecially local dishes.
Cleaness and friendly staff
this hotel is maintained as the Britishers had build, excellent view and near to city.
The food was ok, more indian items should be available.
It's the locution because the hotel on the city center
Good location and warm staff
The water for shower is not stable, sometimes cold and sometimes hot.
The proximity to the town.
The hotel operates, quite lucratively it would appear, primarily for tourist groups who come in late in the day and leave early the next. It is not a welcoming place for solo travellers or couples. Our room was damp and smelly and the room service overpriced and substandard.
outdated, old, in need of make over too expensive for what it is
